Mommy Abuse

Evie's pinching and biting is really getting out of control. She pinches everyone! All the time! She'll grin at you and use her teenie tiny razor sharp little nails to rip all your skin off. I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what she's doing, and I don't know how to get through to her without resorting to smacking her myself! (Don't hurt me or I'll hurt you back? That's not exactly the values I want to teach her)

And then there's the biting. This one she saves specially for me. Ok mommy! I'm hungry! It's time to eat. Come on, pull up your shirt I'm waiting! Ooh ooh! There it is! CHOMP! "OOOOUUUUCCCCHHHH!" I yell, and then "No biting" and then I put her down. As soon as I yell her little heart breaks and she starts to sob. When she calms down, I pick her back up and we try again. More times than not, though. CHOMP. She does it again! What the heck am I supposed to do here? She's almost 15 months. I'm seriously considering weaning her even though I was determined to let her self-wean! Argh! I just can't seem to get her to understand!

I've had "talks" with her too. "These are your teeth. When you use them on me, it hurts, and then you can't eat. Don't bite mommy! Your teeth are for eating OTHER foods"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (What? I haven't shared my blog link with anyone? Oh. Ok. I won't expect any replies then.)

I couldn't make any sense of that pattern I was going to use to make a blankie for my little cousin-in-law, so I switched. I needed something quick and simple, so I'm making this one. It's just a simple V-stitch, I only got a couple rows done last night though because Evie didn't want to sleep. I'm not holding a lot of hope in finishing it today, but you never know.

Looks like we're going to get to see Brian's aunt, uncle and cousins one more time before they go back to Texas and Oaklahoma! I'm so glad! Brodie will be too, but I haven't told him yet just in case somethine comes up.

Today we're going to make a pillow for his girl cousin! I'll take pictures when it's done! Other than that, Brodie's karate is all we've got going on. Maybe I'll get some crocheting done! :)

Another Late Night

I spent from 10:00 p.m. until just now, 12:30, putting Evie to sleep. She finally fell asleep, in her carseat, in front of the television. I tried to nurse her to sleep as usual, but she keeps BIGHTING me! It HURTS! I kept stopping her, saying "NO BITING!" then she'd cry this pitiful heartbroken cry. So frustrating! BUt she did it OVER and OVER! So I couldn't take it anymore. She cried on the couch so I put her in her infant carseat. She fell asleep to late night comedy central. How's that for baby entertainment?

I'm going to get to crocheting now, as I've decided to try to make a little blankie for Brian's cousin's son, whom we met at the family reunion. Brodie is going to make a ribbon pillow for Lydia, Dexter's older sister whom he hit it off with so well.

They leave saturday, and I will see them on Friday, so if I'm going to get it done, I've got tonight and tomorrow. At least if I don't finish it in time I could just mail it to them. I'm making this one: Spring Meadows Baby Blanket.

Wish me luck! I tend to start these things and never finish. This will be a test of my follow-through. If I finish, I'll post pics. ;)

They Called!

Well, a representative from Simply Fun called me today, but I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it. She left a great message!

I'm not going to call her back today, though, because I haven't had a chance to discuss the idea with Brian. He didn't get home until 3AM last night (overtime), so Evie and I were already sleeping. Then today he was still sleeping when I went to visit my sister Emily. I thought about waking him, but with overtime every night this week, he needs his rest. I don't think I'll get a chance to talk to him tonight either, but maybe I can wake my sleepy butt up when he does get home.

I'd like to make sure it sounds like a good idea to him so that when I do talk to the woman, if it sounds as good as I think it does so far, I can go ahead and commit. I'm excited!

Brodie got home from Gramps n Grammy's and their trip to Cedar Point this afternoon. He had such a great time! He rode The Iron Dragon and Thunder Canyon! One of his favorite things was getting to DRIVE the bumper cars! I'm really glad he got to go with them. It was too expensive for Brian and I to go and take the whole family, so Gramps and Grammy offered to take Brodie since they already had reservations at the hotel. Isn't that nice of them? I got so lucky. I have a whole family of awesome inlaws!!

This past weekend was the Orr Family Reuinion for Great Grammy's 75th birthday! Beautiful weather helped make the picnic nearly perfect! Aunts, uncles and cousins from all over got together to celebrate the occasion. Brodie and his cousins got along and played together as if they'd known each other all their lives. It was so cute! He and Lydia in particular really hit it off. She and her family live in Texas. Brodie got to go to Oaklahoma the summer he was just under two and met Lydia, her parents, and grandparents then, but he doesn't remember that now. The kids plan to write letters to each other! That'll be a great way for them to keep in touch AND to practice writing, English, and the good old fashioned art of writing letters!

Today is a hang around at home day because Meg (my bestest friend) is over using Angie's Laundry Service. Later we may use the money she saved from not taking it all to the laundry mat to go get wings at High Tide at Geneva on the Lake. They have the BEST wings around!

The Beginning

Hello Potential Readers!
My name is Angela. I'm 27, married, mother of two in northeast Ohio and this is my blog. Welcome.

I found a business that I'm really interested in. It's called Simply Fun, and it's a home party business, but instead of Tupperware (blah!) or Vitamins (blah!) it's Family Games! Before when I thought about this sort of business opportunity I always thought that it wasn't for me, that I wouldn't enjoy or be good at it, but this one made me look at things in a different way. This one is selling something that I actually feel passionate about: Family Time. Not only that but Brodie would be an awesome little spokesman! Helping people throw home parties about board games and toys sounds like fun, and I know something about them! I don't think anyone around here is doing it, but that's all the better for me if it worked out!

I sent out a request for someone to contact me. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon! The start up cost isn't much. $170 and you get a nice kit with everything you need to start and several games to show at parties (which I'm sure Brodie could also enjoy at home. We're always looking for a new game to play.).

It's not a huge risk, so I think I'm going to talk to Brian about it tomorrow, if I see him. He's working overtime tonight, either two or four hours, maybe every night this week. It'll make for a nice paycheck for him, but I miss having him here. At least I see him more than I did when we both worked. I know we need the money, but I really don't want to go back to that. This business could be a great chance not to have to!

Wish me luck...
Angela
